Edinburgh is not short of incredible photo opportunities. Known as the ‘Athens of the North’, there is plenty of fodder for any camera cannons. With that in mind, we have selected some of our favourite Instagram photographers based in and around Edinburgh, who, we think, capture the city the best. Follow these people now.

@allanmac_
Originally hailing from the West Coast, Allan is a seasoned pro. He knows the best spots to shoot Edinburgh; there will be a lot of people pleasers here. Not only does he focus his lens on the big city but his Instagram is also perfect for those looking for a fuller picture (literally) of Scotland.

Tried to give blood today, but it turns out they have a half day on a Monday. Took photos instead.

@sunxjin
Although Daniel travels a lot, his photography of Edinburgh is quite unique. His pastel-hued images best capture the tranquil early mornings or the hazy late evenings in the city. Follow his Instagram for more dream-like images.

Sara’s background in Biology is definitely an influence on her photography as many of her shots are nature-based. She successfully combines her love of exploring the outdoors with her passion for Edinburgh, offering a fresh perspective on the city.

@pete_urwin
Despite not having a huge following, we think Pete’s Instagram is definitely worth checking out! His images of Edinburgh and further afield capture beautiful and interesting light conditions, to create a feed full of moody and striking photos.

Fisher’s Close. Narrow, dark and a bit filthy – what’s not to like?!

@simonjuho
The iconic mix of buildings of Edinburgh’s old town are perfectly documented on this Instagram. Simon has a talent for finding hard to reach places to shoot from and for noticing details that others don’t. Throw in the odd Auld Reekie sunset and you have a beautiful selection!

Truth is so much more interesting than the fiction we’re used to. #igersedinburgh #thisisedinburgh #reflections

@myedinburgh
As the name suggests, this Instagram is a real local’s view of Edinburgh. Not only do Olli’s well-curated images reflect the diversity of Edinburgh, but they are also a great way of discovering new places in the city!

The Old Town buildings are so pretty and full of character.

@pippaperriam
One half of the popular @eatinburgh Instagram, Pippa documents her adventures around the city on her own quirky Instagram. A travel lover, she is often away visiting interesting places, but always returns to her beloved Edinburgh.

Run by professional photographer Don Munro, this Instagram is a one-stop hit of everything Edinburgh! This incredible collection of images is beautifully curated and with Don’s experience, many offer totally unique perspectives.

@exploringedinburgh
Shawna has gathered quite a following for her ‘Edinburgh wanderings’. Her light and airy aesthetic contrasts beautifully with Edinburgh’s intense, grey stone architecture; the subject of most of her images. If you really want to appreciate the architectural beauty of the city, this is the account to follow.
