2017 is shaping up to be quite a year! With so many festivals, concerts and events happening throughout the city in 2017, we thought we would put together a small guide of our favourites. We can’t decide which time of year is the best to visit Edinburgh, so we have given you a list of reasons to visit all year round!

Where better to experience this traditional Scottish celebration than in the country’s capital itself? If you don’t know a thing about the renowned poet, head up to the castle for ‘Burns for Beginners’ to brush up on your Rabbie Burns knowledge, or be mesmerised by a dramatic telling of Tam-O-Shanter at the Storytelling Centre on the Royal Mile. In the evening, immerse yourself in the full experience of a Burn’s Dinner at the stunning Ghillie Dhu, or even better, use your newly learnt knowledge to host your own Burn’s dinner in your Old Town Chambers luxury apartment!

Six Nations Rugby – February & March

This year, Ireland, Wales and Italy make the trip up to Edinburgh to take on Scotland at Murrayfield for the 2017 Six Nations Championship. Are you lucky enough to hold tickets to one of the matches or are you keen to soak up the atmosphere in one of the city’s welcoming pubs? Either way, Edinburgh will be buzzing during February and March thanks to these epic rugby clashes, making it a great time to visit! Undoubtedly one of the most picturesque marathons in the UK, the Edinburgh Marathon returns to the east Lothian coast in May 2017! For fitness lovers or running newbies alike, the Edinburgh Marathon festival offers a number of distances from a 5k around Holyrood Park to the full marathon distance along the beautiful coastline. Even if you aren’t taking part, find a great vantage point and offer your voice to help cheer on the competitors. Robbie Williams @ BT Murrayfield – 9th June

As part of his 2017 European stadium tour, Robbie Williams will be stopping by BT Murrayfield to perform in Scotland on Friday 9th June! Edinburgh International Film Festival – 21 June – 2nd July

The Edinburgh Riding of the Marches – 17th September

The Common Ridings in the Scottish Borders attract crowds from all around to witness the historical tradition, culminating in the Edinburgh Riding of the Marches. Head to the Royal Mile to observe this ancient custom and be amazed by the cavalcade of over 250 horses riding up the High Street towards the Castle.
